Will stepped into the covered arena, Axel following at his feet. He watched the young stallion, his cat eyes scanning the shadows of the arena. The horse shied. He didn't appreciate his particular ... 'gift'. But one thing that was useful was his trick to settle emotions. He calmed the horse before pressing his palm onto the velvety flesh on Axel's flesh. "Daddy!" his young daughter said, skipping up merrily, his baby sitter stood to the side with a flush.
"I can't... I have an appointment with my doctor. I'm so sorry," she said in a whimper. Will dipped his head in aknowledgement before smiling and picking his daughter up to hug her gently.
"Go sit down honey, and behave yourself," he said. She nodded and skipped off, Phathy, who had been resting lazily in the sun, stood up and ambled over in the shaded bleachers to join his daughter. Will stood up before sticking his foot in the stirrup and quickly getting up. It was bad on the horses' backs to get on like that. But he had yet to train Axel to use the mounting blocks. His previous owner had been... slack.
The horse snorted and side stepped, as if trying to step out from under Will. "-Ah!" Will said sharply, using his whip as a sort of encouragement to gently tap his tummy. The horse twitched, trying to kick at him and then shaking his head in frustration. He reared. "Shit," he whispered, grabbing the pummel and waiting for the horse to throw him. He thought about the flow of energy, his hand touching the wither of the horse and he let out a breath in the icy morning. The horse flicked his ears back before his feet fell back to earth. "Good," he said, making him move forward again. The horse stepped forward cautiously before trotting. "-Ah!" he said, correcting him and making him walk. The stallion slowly started to relax.
The horse was gently moved into a trot, this time on Will's aids. The horse was somewhat angelic, fluid and seemingly perfe-. He broke, his head coming up and he trotted sideways. Somewhere outside the inside arena a mare whinnied, he called after. "You can have your little ronde vu later," he said, pulling the horse back. He imagined the fluid trot in his mind, the horse matching to the image slowly but surely.

She needed some 'college' detox, and so she went to her usual place- the barn. She greeted both her mare and her gelding with a smile and a rub on the forehead before deciding who she wanted to ride. After a quiet moment with both horses watching her with curious expressions, Kay looked at the mare, "Sorry Sissy, I'm gonna work with Cole today..." She gave the mare one last rub, then grabbed the halter that hung on the hook next to her gelding's stall. The dapple grey horse nickered excitedly, pricking his ears forward and watching as Kay slid the stall door open. Cole put his head down a little and nuzzled Kay's hand as she slid the rope halter onto him, tying the knot quickly and easily. Kayden then smiled and led the gelding to the cross ties, "Good boy...." She scrathed his withers a little, then grabbed her brush box and began grooming him up.
She didn't even bother with a saddle- she didn't need it, and if was more fun to ride bareback anyways, plus it was a lot easier to 'feel' the horse without a saddle in the way. After his dapple grey coat was all cleaned up, Kay put on leg wraps and bell boots, pausing to decide if a mud knot was necessary for his tail. She finally decided against it, instead leaving his grey tail to hang down, the hair so long it trailed on the ground by about an inch. Of course, it didn't drag when Cole lifted his tail, like his excited Arabian self.
Kayden grabbed her helmet and the bridle, slipping the bit into Cole's mouth easily before she led him out to the covered arena, taking a deep breath of the cold air before leading her horse toward the gate where there was a little girl sitting on the bleachers. Kayden gave a little smile and a wave before turning to the man who was trotting around the arena. She adjusted her helmet under her arm so it was resting more easily on her hip as she called quietly, not wanting to startle horse or rider, "Mind if I join you?" She didn't mean to intrude or anything, she just wanted to ride.

He barely noticed the woman, he'd been so concentrated. He felt his instincts nagging at the corner of his mind, pulling him away from his work. "No mind at all," he said, before concentrating his eyes back on the pole of the horse's head. He snorted at the newcomer, trying to get closer to figure if he was a she or no. In quiet frustration the stallion noticed the scent of gelding and let out a little grit of his teeth. Will chuckled softly, the horse sighed and slowly started to go to work. Why had he signed himself on for so much work?
The horse started to move into an easy canter. He was going threw the Prix Saint George test in his mind. Canter pirrouette, then go to M and half pass, then.. crap what came after half pass? Trot and leg yield or trot and five meter? He was still keeping an eye on the other girl and her horse and his daughter, who sat quietly- He stopped, "Liza?" He said, his heart pounding as all the blood drained from his face. Shit, she was just sitting right there!
"Huh?" Liza asked, poking her head from around the bleachers.
Shit, that little kid, he had to laugh though, she'd gotten him shaking. He looked at his hands. "Just stay where I can see you," he said. Phathy walked out, guilty as hell. "You know better," he said.
The dog seemed to say, I had no choice it was either fallow or let her leave on her own!
He picked the trot up again, his horse confused at what had just gone on. He seemed a little edge again, he'd probably sensed Will's influence and it was making him anxious. He made him do a few lazy serpentines down the right side of the arena, staying out of the young woman's way.

She pat Cole's shoulder, then opened the gate, leading him in and closing the gate securely behind her. She then went over to the mounting block, put her helmet on, and hopped up on Cole's back, adjusting her seat a little and adjusting her rein length, then scratching the top of his withers while squeezing her calves against his side gently, urging him forward into an easy walk. She walked around the arena a little bit, before pushing the gelding into a smooth sitting trot, watching and slowing to a stop as the guy seemed to blanch, his face turning a pale shade as he searched the bleachers.
He called the name 'Liza' and the little girl poked her head around the bleachers with her dog, the man, Kay assumed it was Liza's father, relaxed visibly before he called that Liza needed to stay where he could see her. Kayden held Cole in the middle of the arena for a minute, watching as the father and daughter completed their interaction and he started working with his stallion again, doing some serpentines down the side of the arena. Kay signalled Cole forward into a canter, slowing to a stop at the edge of the arena near the bleachers that Liza was sitting on.
Kayden smiled and pretended to whisper, though it was loud enough that the guy would be able to hear, "Psst... Hey Liza. If your dad says it's alright, you can come ride with me, if you want...." She left the decision to the girl, and started to canter around the arena again, keeping an eye on Liza, while being sure to stay out of the way of the man.
While she waited, she turned Cole toward a few small jumps that were set up in the middle of the arena, pushing him over a few. The gelding cleared them easily and smoothly, Kay going into two point over each one and landing gently on the other side. After five or six jumps, she slowed Cole down to a sitting trot again, half passing down the side of the arena.

He felt Axel twitch under him, feeling the presence of the other horse and he broke into a canter, bucking and kicking, his back rolling, a spring set to launch Will from the saddle, and it nearly did. He'd been so focused on what the blond was up to that he hadn't noticed the stallion thinking quietly. Phathom, the giant Golden retriever, stood up, barking. The barks echoed and that made the stallion stop, his legs sprawled out and then he panicked. Will had only just settled himself in the saddle. The dog let out a yelp. Will let out a growl and the horse just started freaking out. He was half way off the horse already and the dog wasn't helping one bit. Which was odd because Phathom usually never barked, unless he was about to have an attack or something. But he hasn't had a heart attack until- Shit he was running them right towards one of the jumps. He reached forward, grasping for the bit.
The horse bucked and kicked as Will slowly forced the horse to turn, he slowed to a trot, then he started to trip over himself and he almost went down. If Will hadn't been half way off already he probably would have leapt right off and ran, he was so close to reselling the stallion.
The stallion was still mid way down when he slid off, using his body as a prop to keep the horse up. If he'd been his frail human self he would never have thought of doing so before in his life. But the extra strength was the tipping of the scale. The horse was balanced soon enough and Will was pulling him to the side. He looked to the other lady. "Are you ok?" he asked. Shit, she could have been killed. He looked at his nutso horse in anger, but he wouldn't lash out at the horse, the last part had been pure fear. He was going to have to have a little chat with his dog. Who was whining quietly. Liza was standing up on the fence, watching worriedly.
"You didn't hurt him did you daddy?" she asked, more concerned with the horse than her father, which was in some was quite humorous. He smiled and laughed, patting Axel's neck softly.
"No, he's fine," he said, gently grabbing the pummel and pulling himself on the horse. Phathom started to growl, "No," Will said sharply to the dog and he tucked his tail and buried his face in his mass of golden curls. Will let the horse walk out a little, making him calm down and relax first before trying anything. To be honest, he was just going to blame it on the wind that was howling on the roof of the arena. He looked to the girl. "I'm so sorry. If I had been paying attention I would have warned you. He's not usually this bad but this is the first winter I've had him so I don't know all of his quirks. I could have warned you when you first came in, I'm sorry," he said, beating himself up about it. Sort of.

She grabbed his mane to stabilize herself before pulling back on the reins a little to help the gelding regain his composure. Of course, he was still on edge, and Kay could tell, his muscles were tense, and his ears kept swiveling around. Kayden rubbed the gelding's neck speaking quietly to him, "Easy boy... Easy. It's alright.... Easy...."
Kayden looked up as the guy's voice called out to her. She scratched the top of Cole's withers then called back, "Yeah, I'm fine." She then collected Cole up, helping him focus on the task at hand, arching his neck and round his back ever so slightly, getting his hind end up underneath him to give him the most energy in his step, and she pushed him forward to extend his walk. She made him do a bit of half passing to get his mind on the work, then pushed him forward into a canter and took him over a few small cross rails.
After she had Cole calmed down, she cantered over, stopping a small distance away from the guy and his stallion, letting them have their space, "What about you, are you alright?"
[/b] Her gelding eyed the stallion warily, shifting his weight a little and flicking his tail, but he didn't shy away. As Kayden watched and listened to the guy explain, she rubbed Cole's neck gently to keep him calm. "Really, It's alright. I'm not hurt, my horse's fine, and I understand. I have a mare who seems to have supersonic hearing- the smallest things will set her off. And really, with a new horse, you never know quite what to expect."[/b] She shrugged. He smiled, "Yes but it doesn't my I have to be stupid about it," he said with a light smile before concentrating on the horse. He pat the horse, feeling that the horse wasn't nervous any more and had more or less forgotten about his panic. He slid off, feeling the fun of the ride draining. Hell, that had surprised him, not scared, he new he wouldn't die like that, but scared him as in surprising him. He hadn't expected the horse to flip, sure maybe buck a little, but not nearly kill him. The horse sniffed the air around the gelding before snorting, as if disapproving of the horse. Will just rolled his eyes. The horse was ... a prick really.
As if hearing what he thought the stallion grit his teeth and pinned his ears, impatiently stamping his foot, pretty much declaring his distaste. "Oh shut up," Will grumbled. The stallion just grit his teeth before letting out a little sigh, swishing his tail and letting his head fall close to the ground, sniffed the sand before trying to rub. Will pulled him up. "Stop it. Don't give me that-" he realized he was talking to the horse, and the girl couldn't hear the other half of the conversation. The horse pinned his ears and turned, swiveling his back end around, almost swinging right into Will, but he put a hand on the barrel of the horse and pushed back, but he remembered not to push too hard, he had to seem like he was struggling. Damn, being strong came with consequences. The horse tried to bite him, and that earn him a slap on the cheek. "No! Damn- it- ugh," he said, leaning his body into the horse. The horse wobbled a little before nearly tripping back in place.
