Silvia pulled into the parking lot and parked her car. She grabbed her purse and got out, locking to doors. She walked into the hospital and into the staff room. Silvia grabbed her lab coat and slipped it on then went out the front desk. She grabbed a file and went to the waiting room. “Mr. Joseph Parks, please follow me to Exam Room 3.” She waited to make sure he was following and started walking down the hall. She stopped at the door to the exam room and opened the door, letting him in first. “Please, have a seat.” She waited for him to take a seat. “What seems to be troubling you?” After his answer she got up and started the tests. His breathing was normal, no wheezing and his throat wasn’t swollen. She prescribed him some medication and showed him out. She grabbed another file and walked out into the waiting room, called the patient in, and was about to start the diagnostics when her pager went off. She checked it and excused herself. She walked up to the front desk. “Who was paging me?”

Jim dealt with blood and antiseptic and death everyday, but he hated hospitals. There was a big difference between people and horses and he knew he just wasn't cut out to be a doctor. For one thing, a doctor had to actually have a bedside manner, for another, he really didn't like the sight of human blood. Thankfully he wasn't having to look at any of his own blood today, but a cut requiring stitches might have been better than the cracked rib he was pretty sure he was sporting. A pretty little filly had decided to freak out when he was working on a gash in her neck and he'd been knocked against the stall pretty good. Most bumps and bruises he dealt with on his own, but horse anatomy was similar enough to humans for him to know that a busted rib could puncture a lung. And better safe than sorry. So here he was, filling out paperwork and waiting for x-rays and a doctor to tell him to take it easy for a couple weeks.

"Oh, ok. Can you send someone to cover for me then?" Silvia asked the nurse at the desk. The nurse called some one and Silvia walked over to see her new patient. "I can take that." she said, holding out her hand for the paper work. He looked okay, no rashes of skin reactions, but the way he was leaning was odd. She paged the front desk and told them to book the x-ray machine for her in about 10 minutes. "When ever your read, I'll show you the way." she said to the patient. Looking back to make sure no one was in her office. Good thing too, she hated when people used her office, messed it up and just left her to clean it.

Jim finished scrawling his signature in a way that would have done a doctor proud. His techs were always complaining that his chicken scratch was illegible. Behind his back anyway. He glanced up to the woman he assumed was a nurse since they tended to handle the paperwork. He double-checked what he had signed and then handed over the clipboard. He got up to follow her, standing a little stiffly, but walking without a limp. "I'm fine, let's just get this over with." The last part was mostly a low grumble. No one had ever accused him of being a good patient.

Silvia lead him to an exam room. "Feel free to have a seat." She said to him. She ran a figer down the paper work, checking everything. It all seemed to be in order. She handed him another piece of paper. For the x-ray this time. "Please fill this out" she said. After that she could get on with it. She grabbed a pen off the self. The bent over and got a clip board from in one of the cupboards. While doing so, she droped her pen and bent further to pick the pen up. Then she stood and grabbed a note page from the folder. She sat down in the chair and logged into the computer before pulling up his file. Ah, so he's a vet.Outfit, not looks

This wasn't the first time Jim had bashed his ribs up a bit and he knew from experience that less movement meant less pain. So he stood, only leaning back slightly on the exam table. He raised an eyebrow as he took yet another form to fill out. If it hadn't been for the fact that he'd been raised not to curse around women, he probably would have had some choice words to say about all the trees the damn hospital was killing. But he dutifully filled out the form, handing it back. "Look, it's no big deal. I just need an x-ray so that some doc can give me the good drugs and I can head out to get knocked around by the next 'oh she wouldn't hurt a fly' knucklehead." No one had ever accused Jim of being charming and sweet, but his gruffness had gotten even worse after the divorce. And it didn't help that each breath brought a little hitch of pain. So while the woman did have a nice ass objectively, drugs would be much nicer than eye candy at the moment.

Silvia took the form and galnced over it. "Good, that's what the last form was for. Ready to go?" Silvia opend the door. She could question him on the way. But she knew it wasn't too bad, he was leaning and moving his upper body. So it couldn't be too too bad. Silvia stopped when they got to the pharmacie, the first stop before the x-rays. She perscribed some penniciline for a guy with strep and picked up some pain meds for the new guy, then waited for him to catch up.

Jim just nodded. He wasn't the most verbose of guys on any occasion, but he got even more terse when in the hospital and out of his comfort zone. The ribs didn't even slow him up much, just made him walk with a little more care than usual. With his long legs, it was easy to keep up even with the quick walking doctor. Jim figured that was a big difference between vets and doctors. Doctors always seemed to be in a rush. Jim drove fast, but once he was at a farm, things slowed down a little. He couldn't help but smirk a little as she rattled off drug names to some guy behind a counter. That was the good stuff. He wouldn't have any trouble sleeping tonight, even though he usually slept on his side.

Silvia smiled. "Oh, by the way, I'm Doctor Coma." she said with a smile. In the rush she hadn't introduced herself. She hated it when she did that, it tended to make she look mean or stupid. She held the door open, facing the x-ray room. The technitian was no where in sight, so they'd have to wait. Silvia checked her watch, she needed to get going, but oh well. "Have a seat." she said, pulling up a chair. She sat down, may as well get the whole story she thought. "So, can you run me through what happend?"

A doctor huh. Jim had figured she was the nurse that was ferrying him around until the doctor could see him. "Jim Castle." Not like it wasn't in triplicate on all that paperwork. He sat with a little more care than usual, but really, he'd had worse. Usually this was the part where he shrugged, but not moving his ribs more than he had to was the plan of the moment. "I'm a horse vet. Was in a stall with a youngster and the groom didn't know what the fuck he was doing. So I ended up between a wall and a thousand pounds of freaking out."

Slivia was caught off guard by his expression, but did her best to keep it from showing. "Do you prefer Jim, Mr. Castle or Dr. Castle?" Silvia asked. It would be a few more minutes untill the x-rays were open, and she needed something to do. It got boring everyonce in a while just talking medical. But then again, she did work at a hospital. "Ok, where would you say you got hit?" she asked. She pulled out her pad and started writing some notes down. Her pager went off again, but it wasn't important, so she put it on vibrate and ignored it.

Jim had always been brutally honest with a mouth like a sailor, but what little charm he possessed had disappeared along with his wife. He wasn't planning on making friends with this woman and he wasn't here as a vet 'Mr. Castle is fine." He just wanted to get his x-ray and drugs and leave. Getting injured was never on the agenda, but he'd cleared his afternoon for a long trail ride and now it would be a week at least before he could sit a saddle at all. So between being and sore and irritated, Jim was even more of a bundle of joy than usual. Where did he get hit? It wasn't a kick, he got squashed. "I was standing with my back to the wall and the filly's shoulder crushed me against it for several seconds before the groom decided he wasn't actually a damn statue."

Silvia nodded as he spoke. Most people went with thier term of profession at all times, but he did seem different than most people. That was allowable of course, but deffinatly not what was expected by her. "Okay. Well, hmm. Oh, looks like the x-rays open now. Let's head on in." She walked over and open the door. Then once he was in, she told the x-ray technician what had happend. She went back out of the room and waited for the results.
