Mercedes entered the barn, wearing her barn finest- though for once she wasn’t being sarcastic. She had on last years show breeches and a tighter fitted mountain horse jacket. She’d even pulled out her field boots for the occasion, she’d never really dressed for a barn interview. But she figured riding a few more horses the usual wouldn’t do it any harm, and then she could say it was her job when people asked her if she rode horses. It’d fit perfectly into the front she put up, it was the way she liked it. And exercising didn’t take too much talent, not that she lacked it, but she wouldn’t be held to near the standards. She turned the truck into the driveway for the farm. She’d been here a few too many times before, riding her own two horses that would be happily nestled in their stalls right now. She pulled into a spot and hopped out easily, tossing her hair into a hairnet and putting her GPA helmet on. It’d cover her slightly messed up her, slightly too much time rubbing against pillows and a headboard, look. She’d went clubbing last night, but she didn’t show many signs. It’d be a quick night, as most were. She left the chin strap undone, pretty much a trend for Mercedes. She walked into the long barn, glancing around for Riley. “Hello?” she called easily into the air.

Riley walked down the barn aisle sweat lightly beading on her forehead. Behind her a horse walked sluggishly behind her. She turned around and rubbed a hand on his sweaty fast. "Well i guess i can tire you out." The gelding pushed her with his nose and she just laughed. her jeans were covered in a light dust and her once clean tank top was marred with horse slime. She heard the sound of footsteps echoing at the entrance of the barn and then heard a faint voice call out. She halted the stallion infront of his stall and grabbed his halter. "I'm over here." she hoped the other would here her voice and head toward to far stalls in the barn toward the arena. She wasn't sure who it was but from the sound of unsureness made her think it wasn't a boarder. She slipped off the geldings bridle and he rubbed his head on her leaving a little slobber across her stomach. She laughed and pushed the gelding away pulling on his halter.

Mercedes nodded as she heard the voice and walked easily towards it, it sounded like Riley’s. She stopped to pet the two jumpers she owned as they glanced at her before continuing to walk towards the arena. She could see a horse in the cross ties, and then spotted who she assumed was Riley beside it. “Hey, I was just wondering if the position for an exercise rider was still open?” she said, allowing a polite smile to cross her face. She really should have been an actor, nobody could ever catch on to her. They may think that she slept around because she wanted to feel pretty, but nobody ever guessed that she was actually a really nice girl. She liked it that way, nobody ever tried to walk over top of her and nobody had really high expectations. Nobody was ever disappointed by her, and it was nice to have that feeling. She doubted it sometimes, that maybe she did want the reassurance that somebody cared- to know somebody was standing behind her to pick up her pieces. But those people always let you down at some point in time, so why even bother? She knew how to pick herself up off the ground.

Riley watched as the girl rounded the corner she'd seen her before she was a boarder. Guess her assumptions had been wrong. She bit her lip lightly hoping she wasn't going to be told of a problem. She clipped the cross tie onto the horses halter and then watched the girl for a second. She smiled warmly and listened to the girl speak. "Yes actually it is." she looked over the girl then felt a bump from slews head. "I'm Riley. It's nice to meet you." she extended a hand toward the girl in a business like matter. She had felt it was time to extend the staff a little by adding an excercise rider to the mix so she and zane werent the only ones riding around here. They had a few horses that they would be selling shortly and she needed to get them schooled up so she could get a decent price for them but at the same time her own horses were taking a hit since she was spending all her time with the sale horses. She glanced back toward the chestnut behind her. He was one that was taking the lack of attention to heart. He'd been a complete nut in the arena today.

“Mercedes, it’s nice to meet you as well” she said with a warm smile , shaking the girls hand easily. It was weird doing business in a barn, okay business like this. Her mom had done business all the time, Mercedes had given countless barn tours, numerous lessons, rode what felt like a million horses for boarders and well, done a lot of business. She was used to it, the whole barn owning thing. Working at a bar she didn’t live at? This may be a challenge. But all she had to do was ride, that was something she did all the time anyways. She missed being home, being admired for her talent and having new boarders and students be amazed, But she didn’t miss the high expectations, the rumours that flew if she did anything wrong. She hated that, but she had to face the music sometime. But she would be much happier if it came a lot later in life. Mercedes reached out and let the horse sniff her before scratching his head easily.
