Nate led Romeo out to the ring, the stallion snorting at the idea of working. Romeo was a very spunky stallion, and had no problem goofing around with a rider on his back. He spooked and carried on, until you pointed him at a fence. Nate had originally gotten him to use as a barrel horse, but his lovely sister had decided that the horse was much better suited for jumping and it’d be a crime for him to be in the western ring. So Nate was back in the English ring, even though he’d vowed not to enter it again. Lexus was too persuasive, that or he gave in really easy. Nate just slipped his foot into the stirrup, fully aware he was probably going against some kind unwritten rule about riding in jeans and cowboy boots in an English saddle. But he could really care less, the whole skin tight pants was not his thing.
Romeo let out a few bucks before settling at a walk and Nate couldn’t help but roll his eyes at the stallion who was still tossing his head in complaint. He was just a tad bratty sometimes.. Or all the time. Nate played on the reins a bit until Romeo tucked his nose in and actually worked himself slightly. He tossed his head in complaint until Nate nudged him in the sides, the horse obviously sued to a overly harsh western trainer needed a bit more discipline then most. Romeo held his head in place, only moving slightly when he played with the bit. It was a little bit of a sad picture and everyone always doubted Nate’s ability to ride a jumper, but when you had a sister like he did well.. Let’s just say he spent a few too many years warming up horses for her. And she was picky, so form was pretty much natural to him now he’d heart it so many times. She had the pants in the family that’s for sure, but if you’d ever seen her mad or when she wanted something you’d understand. She was hard headed and stubborn, and well she pretty much had him wrapped around her finger. But he avoided telling people that his little sister was the boss, and she was nice enough to act decent when he had people over. Most of the time. [/blockquote]

Riley walked down the barn aisle leading behind her a dancing chestnut steed. The gelding tossed his head energetically as she walked him toward the arena. She smacked his neck playfully as he reached around to nip at her sleeve. "Knock it off Slew." She slid open the end door and led the gelding through. She smiled as her boots hit the dirt path and the sun bathed her in it's warm rays. She loved the sun and loved this farm. She glanced up toward the arena and saw a silloutte rounding the far corner she looked curiously it was rare for someone to be around. She approached slowly figuring it was the new boarder. She hadn't been around when they'd arrived and was quite eagar to meet them. She stopped placing one booted foot on the fence and leaning her arms on the top rail. She watched silently for a minute the pair looked almost out of place. It could just be she wasn't used to watching guys ride english. In her neck of the woods it'd been western or racing. Guys were always teased when they rode english though she didn't really care what any ones riding preference was. She knew what it was like to be the odd ball out in your chosen discipline. Her thoughts were so rudely interrupted when she felt the gelding tug on her jacket. "Slew! knock it off." She scolded the gelding lightly as he drew away dancing sideways playfully away from her. "I swear you'll be the last rambunctious colt i'll ever get off the track." she playfully teased the copper colored gelding.
She turned her attention back to the ring clearing her throat she spoke up her georgian accent tracing her words. "Hey would you mind if i joined you?" she didn't want to intruppt the others work and would be fine to go find somewhere else to ride. She always felt bad about entering the arena without asking. Yeah it was her arena but they had just as much right to it as she did. Her eyes darted down the horse he sat upon. He was stunning she watched his well groomed hide sparkle in the mid morning sun. "Wow" she mumbled under her breath.

“No not at all” said Nate as he saw a girl and a horse enter the ring. The chestnut appeared fiery and judging by Romeo’s lack of reaction it was another stallion. He was used to being with stallions, as he pretty much lived with a bunch of stallion’s and gelding’s for the most part. Nate refused to have him turned out alone, it was probably the stupidest thing he’d even seen. No Romeo couldn’t be turned out with mares, but he certainly could be turned out with boys. He was okay with mares, but he got slightly more excited and bossy when around mares. He hadn’t really done much until this year when Nate bought him, up until then he’d been being rode once in awhile by a western trainer but nothing steady. Though the horse was not western, at all. Well at least he wasn’t allowed to go western, providing Lexus was anywhere near.
“I’m Nate by the way, and this is Romeo” he said, introducing himself and the paint that danced underneath him until Nate jabbed him in the side with a spur. Romeo stood still, wondering why the hell he was being told what to do all the time. He was not used to it and that was obvious. Nate squeezed slightly and took the gelding into a trot. He wiggled his reins softly, massaging the stallions mouth until he dropped his head into a frame and started using himself. Romeo tossed his front feat out slightly, covering ground nicely. Nate was amazed how good he was being, finally getting the hang of it- slightly. His tail swished a couple times in complaint and her fought slightly against the bit, still not a hundred percent used to the work but compared to the rearing and bucking a month ago, he’d come along way. “Don’t laugh too hard at my attire, I usually ride western this horse well, I blame my sister” said Nate with a laugh as he patted the stallion’s neck and continued to work him. Riley smiled and nodded as he answered her previous question. It'd be good for slew to get some practice with other horses. That is if he didn't explode with excitement first. The young thoroughbred danced sideways and tossed his head nickering quietly to the other equine in the arena. Riley walked toward the gate the gelding following closely. She swung open the gate and led the anxious horse in. She looked him over his long sweeping form was breath taking. She had really fallen for this gelding when she saw him sweep down the track. his movements had been breath taking not to mention his deep copper color with three white socks really stood out. She patted his now slightly sweat marred neck. She grinned as the other introduced himself. "It's nice to meet you nate. I'm riley and this here is slew." She pulled the reins over the geldings head and hosted herself into the saddle it was a long ways up. She gathered herself in the saddle and gathered her reins. the gelding danced beneath her kicking one hind leg out in protest. She kicked him lightly and urged him forward.
She heard the man comment about his attire then looked down at her own. She wore a pair of worn jeans, a tight fighting tank top, a pair of baby blue half chaps, and her very worn pair of justin boots. She grinned widely. "Oh i promise i won't tease you about your attire but just this once." she teased lightly being her normal self. She wondered who his sister was but her thoughts were cut short as the horse below her danced sideways and kicked out. She swore under her breath why had she let her mind wonder she knew slew would easily take advantage of her lack of focus. "Don't mind slew he's still adjusting to life as a normal horse." she circled him trying to get him to relax. If his mind was working he was a happy horse but the second he stopped working he got a little cranky. She urged him up to a trot his long legs sweeping under him in long fluid gaits. This had been the gait that had won her over and he was so comfortable to ride. She felt him start to relax and work beneath her.

ooc;; if its too too short, just TELL ME. I just figured I'd post something quick because I won't be on until tmrw and know I'd rather get something really short then nothing.
“Well then I’ll take the teasing, because there is no way your getting me in breeches unless there is a judge at the side of the ring” Nate said teasingly before bumping Romeo into a canter. He tossed his head in complaint and gave a couple solid bucks before cantering decently around the ring. Nate was so used to it it had become like nothing to him. He watched the new stallion go as her rode, the girl handling him well. “Off the track thoroughbred?” asked Nate, knowing the signs and the name all screamed running. [/blockquote]

She grinned widely. "Oh come on you know you like tight pants." she laughed a little and put her attention back on the still prancing gelding. This was the only part she hated. She pushed him forward having him lengthin his gate to keep him focused. she collected him back as he worked he relaxed. She heard the other ask if he was a thoroughbred and she grinned. "Yeah he's only been off the track for a few weeks now." she patted his copper colored neck. "He's making good progress. I'm not sure in which direction." she shook her head and glanced around the arena it was wonderful out today and she wouldn't want to be anywhere else. "So who's your sister?" the question came from no where but she wondered if she knew the girl. She'd meet a few people from her little time here. She halted the gelding in the center of the arena and watched the other rider for a few minutes. He was a talented rider and the stallion was beautiful. He moved so fluidly . She pulled her eyes off of him and then pushed the gelding forward into a walk.

Nate listened as he rode, heading the stallion towards a small x. It was never small with Romeo though, he put effort into everything. It was kind of annoying at moments, but it beat no effort at all. Nate slowed himself down in attempt to collect up the stallion, who responded slightly but still popped over the x with a great deal of energy. Nate just kept coming to it, hoping for him to not over jump just this once but he always did, it was routine now. Nate steered him towards a vertical, probably only 2’ and did that a few times, the stallion still over jumping it a good foot. Finally Nate just turned the gelding towards a 2’9” fence, needing to feel a jumper under him and not just air. The stallion sprang over it with ease. Nate wished Romeo wasn’t so green and he could go actual jumper, but he still wasn’t balanced enough to do the tight turns to big fences. Sadly. Nate slowed as he heard the girl speak. “Lexus Miller, she’s the pretty little blonde girl you’d never think you’d see riding stallions over 4’ fences” said Nate, knowing that if the name didn’t ring a bell the pretty, little, blonde and four foot fences will. She’d always been known for her hair colour, her last two coaches were blondes and she was pretty much considered a coach because she was always with them- what hay the been? Not Railside, or RSVEC, but the blondes. Yeah, she hated it but really it was how every remembered her. Nate just chuckled at the thought of Lexus’ face when people called her that. [/blockquote]

Riley smiled and nodded her long brown hair flowing behind her underneath her helmet."ive met here she was here a few days ago actually. Nice girl." She smiled again. Shed actually really enjoyed talking with the girl she seemed knowledgable. "So how do you like it here?" She sighed a little glancing at the guy he was attractive she had to admit. She shook her head erasing the thought as the gelding beneath her scooted sideways quickly. She hoped he liked the farm she tried to keep it clean and organized.

“Yeah, I think she came here to offer training? Something like that, she’s always running every which way for people. The girl’s too nice.” said Nate as he kept picking and choosing random fences, trying hard to get Romeo to do the turn nice and more balanced. Nate would soon be handing the stallion off to Lexus, it wasn’t his thing and he really didn’t have the time. He was busy shoeing and trimming and well yeah, pretty much between that and riding so quickly that he wasn’t enjoying it all. He needed to cut down. Get him shown a bit and sold, it was the way to go right now. “It’s pretty nice, I like how laid back it is. And that it’s not strictly all hunters or jumpers, it’s a nice change” said Nate watching the girl ride, she seemed to really know what she doing and she seemed outgoing, it was nice. “How about you, how do you enjoy running the place” asked Nate as he kept the stallion walking, by now he was steaming hot so she tossed a cooler on him.

She smiled warmly. "Yeah she did. I'm rather disappointed that i didn't have any work for her." she sighed then turned her attention back to the duo she watched the horses graceful yet unbalanced movements. She caught herself holding her breath and biting her lip as she watched the horse take each fence. It was habit. She laughed as he mentioned how laid back the farm was. "Well i'm glad. I like to keep things relaxed." she grinned again. "It'd be hard to have an all english barn since i ride western as well." she let her mind wander to how much she enjoyed sitting on her little quater horse mare while walking down some forest trail or taking the spunky little mare to the beach. "I only ride english because it pays the bills." she added almost without thinking. "It's the same reason i rode races." the memories flashed back and she flinched her hand rising the her left shoulder. she shook her head and pushed the gelding forward. she headed toward the center of the arena and halted him. She stood there for a minute before dismounting and putting up both of her stirrups.
She looked over at nate. "So do you do anything else besides ride?" she was feeling social. He seemed friendly and it would be nice to have someone to talk to for a few minutes. She rubbed the geldings head producing a palm full of white hair. "Eww..." she teased rubbing the horses forehead harder as he pushed into her enjoying it.
Notes: sorry it's so short i'm tired but i figure i'd post something for you since i've been slacking the past few weeks.

“Yeah but some times a lot of people focus on mainly one thing y’know? Lexus old barn was all hunter jumper, I was one of the few that didn’t happen to do it. But most western, dressage or whatever riders left because it was just too much- everybody else just runs around you and well, you kind of loose some respect.” said Nate, talking more now because it was the only way he managed to cool out for any length of time. Romeo was fairly sweaty, he hadn’t been rode hard in a little while since he’d been busy. But he needed to get him into shape, see what Lexus thought of him. “Races eh? I think I’d get injured too often, those horses are so wired” said Nate, remembering working with them. Eventually he’d just wait, it’d been way to much bodily harm for him. Nate walked the stallion around, as he stretched his neck and chewed on the bit softly Nate smiled and gave him a pat only stopping when Riley asked him a question. “Yeah, I’m a Farrier.” said Nate, remembering that he needed to trim his other stallion up a bit before he went home.

She smiled. "Yeah.." she kept her answer kind of simple. As he spoke she walked slew around the arena cooling him out though he didn't break much of a sweat. How she wished sometimes she had a groom. She listened as he spoke. She thought for a second. She'd grown up around racers so it hadn't occurred to her other people viewed the horses differently then she did. She was so used to the rambunctious horses she almost found normal horses boring in comparrison. "Yeah well atleast one of is smart enough to learn." she laughed and then continued. "I grew up around them so i'm so used to them thier energy doesn't bother me. My family owned race horses and i started riding them when i was younger." she ran a hand down the geldings face. She missed her home this place was nice but it didn't have her friends to keep her company. She pushed the thought away and sighed that's why she'd just make new ones here. No reason to dwell on the past.
