Lexus walked into the barn, her usual attire covering her petite frame and the sun glittering softly against her slightly tanned skin. It was her usual time, an easy 6am school for the two horses. She usually rode them lightly in the morning and then worked them hard over fences in the afternoon. It kept them in good shape, which was the main focus of the morning ride, that and to ensure she spent a decent amount of time on the flat. Since that was her least favourite thing to do in the entire world- well actually that was grooming. Yes, Lexus would clean her entire house before she’d groom three horses. Not her thing, at all. She kept her horses clipped and tidy, but never did she more then she needed to. Really the only reason they stayed clipped all winter was because of the cleanliness factor. Lazy? Yeah pretty much.
Lexus pulled at a thread on her tailored sportsman’s breeches, they were worth a pretty penny but she figured she spent enough time in them that they were money well spent. Along with her whole riding outfit, from the tall boots she wore to the jacket she had that was made of some special material that wicked away sweat. She wasn’t really sure what it was called, but it worked well. She just rolled her eyes at herself, but she always had to look presentable because she never knew when she was going to have to get on a future clients horse. Lexus chuckled at herself before tossing her hair back into a low ponytail and tossing her Charles Owen onto her head. She had a GPA for when she showed jumpers, but that was stuffed in a tack box somewhere. She had one too many of those lovely things.
Lexus pulled Ollie out the stall, his large body walking slowly as he sauntered behind her not even bothering to bat an eye at the mares the pranced around waiting for him. She was thinking about breeding him to Cass, but it was really a waste of time for her to put a top show horse off for a year just to have a baby. It would be better for her to buy a horse that used to be at the top and was now just to old and use it as just a broody. But she was too busy for that kind of care, she had a hard enough time making sure she got everything she needed done in a day let alone making sure another two horses were healthy. Lexus peeled off Ollie’s winter blanket and draped a red cooler he’d won over his back before starting to clean his legs so she could put boots on him.

Maria arrived early at the stable, unable to sleep at all. Way to early in fact. Kick It wasn’t awake until 7:30 on most days, and neither was Maria. That was one of the few benfits of being a rocker. You got to sleep in pretty much as long as you wanted to. You also could pretty much get away with anything, but that was another matter entirely.
She pocked her head in Kicks’ stall. She looked almost dead she was so asleep. She was sprawled in her stall, one leg twitching slightly. She glanced at his feed bowl. It was full. That was odd. She shook her head, and walked away from Kicks’ stall. She came across a girl who was cleaning her horse’s legs. “Hi. Did you see anyone feeding my horse, 321 Kick It?” Maria asked.

Lexus watched some girl walk towards a horses stall but put in it the back of her mind, she didn’t rally want to get involved in any border drama or stupid stuff. She was here to ride, train and maybe have a small social life. Though that was very rare for her, as she had another horse coming soon. Some big jumper that she’d literally been given because he wasn’t ride able. She’d just nodded and said she’d take him, well she thought it was him she wasn’t sure. She’d take him around for the season without a problem, it wasn’t like she had anything better to do. Ollie lifted a leg to kick at a cat the was a few feet behind and Lexus lowered hr voice and “get” came out. The stallion swung his leg back to the ground and stood patiently, well aware that the word was her one and only warning. Especially with a stallion, she didn’t give many chances. It was listen, listen, do.
Ollie snorted as the girl came up, wondering who this stranger was. The girl looked pretty but a bit older, probably around twenty eight or nine. Lexus wasn’t sure, she had a hard time telling who was male and female sometimes, the world was just a little bit crazy. She was such a small town girl, she was used to girls liking boys, boys farming and working and girls doing high end jobs or being stay at home moms. Heck half the people there were either nurses of firefighters. But the firefighters were pretty good looking, she missed them that’s for sure. This town seemed to lack boys, and half an abundance of horses. The abundance of horses were amazing, the lack of boys? Well it sucked, but really how often did Lexus have time to notice. She spent way too much time at the barn, and she was really starting to feel like she’d forgotten what high heels and guess purses were. She loved to get dressed up, it just didn’t fit into her schedule very often. She needed a farm, maybe someday soon but right now there were two barns with a good amount of horses in them and superb faculties. She didn’t really need to attempt to compete with that, not until she’d settled in anyways. She looked up when she heard a voice, the blonde girl looking at her. “Nope I just got here, and both my horses eat pretty fast”

Silvia walked into the barn and up to her horses stall. "Hey baby!" she said, walking into Dream's stall. #12, her brothers hockey number while they were kids. She turned on the water and gave him some food then started to work. He was going to be appraised by a mares owner and trainer today so her had to look good. She curried him and brushed him and then combed his mane and tail. She cleaned his hooves and then walked out of the stall. Dark Dreams whinnied as the door closed, keeping him away from the mares in the barn. Silvia saw a couple of others in the hall. She walked up to them. "Hi I'm Silvia. Just wondering but are you boarding mares or stallions?" If they were mares, the appraisle would have t be done outside in a pen, away from them. Dream loved only one thing miore than covering mares, showing inhand. Always too fiesty and strong willed to be ridding in competition, plus he coverd mares in saddle there, he was shown where the handler could be at his side to remind him the were showing. ANyways, Silvia needed information about the other boarders here before the owner showed up.

“I have one mare, a gelding and a stallion” said Lexus, unsure of how to take the question. It was kind of weird that people asked the questions they did, it was almost like she was a stablehand. But she was a trainer here, and she was to answer any questions anybody may have. Biggest rip off of the job? Yes, for sure. She just smiled and continued to groom the handsome stallion, his four white socks starting to look less stained. The stallion was curious and snorting at the strangers, wondering who all these people were. He’d always been a little too curious for his own good, but amazingly he was pretty laid back. But he hadn’t always been that way, but she’d worked a lot with him. He knew how to listen, how to obey and that when she said now she meant it. It was kind of amazing to see him float around the ring, clearing fences with ease. But she only ever saw it on video, because only her coaches had ever been able to ride him. Everyone else just seemed to get bucked off or not be able to handle him. He was very well behaved, but when I knew person got on his back he put the boots on him. He was a bit picky on who you put on his back, but that didn’t concern Lexus. He went around the show ring without blinking at the mares, and that’s all the mattered to her.

"A mare, a stud and a gelding okay. Thanks. By the way, I'm Silvia and the horse down in stall 12 is my baby, Dark Dreams." Silvia went to get a halter and lead rope. She walked into Dream's stall and slid the halter over his head, she did it up and took a breath before clipping on the halter. Dreams whinnied and started tugging at the lead. Silvia lead him out of the barn, stopping only to open the door. She lead Dream to a round pen and went to the parking lot. The woman was just pulling in when she got there, trailor in tow. Did she plan to breed today? Silvia lead her to the pen with the mare. Them mare waited outside with a stable hand while the woman and her trainer examined Dream. "I love him!" the woman said. They settled on a price of 250$ for a breeding and another 50$ if it was a colt. The sable hand lead the mare up to the railing and Silvia left Dream with the woman to go grab a lunge line. She got back and started to discuss how to g about the breeding. They decided to try in hand, the pasture and fianly AI. Silvia clipped on the lunge line and waited for the mare to be lead in. She waited, but Dream didn't do anything. She tried coaxing him, but it didn't work. So she lead the horses out to the pasture to stay for the night. She'd check on them in the morning.

“This is After Hours. I also have Catchphrase and Cash Advance. Oh, and I’m Lexus” said Lexus with a smile. She tossed Ollie back into his stall and decided to follow the group, curiosity getting the better of her. She wasn’t one to follow, but this was different. She was way too curious. Lexus leaned against the fence watching, not really sure what to think. The people who came with the mare seemed off to her, not really knowing. They just gave her that feel that they were all talk and absolutely no action. Their lack of words, they way they stood just everything seemed to scream new time breeder. Lexus also thought the whole if it’s a colt we get more money thing was bizarre, if they paid for the breeding they got semen. Not oh yeah by the way.. It just seemed off to her, but then again they could have some deal worked out or something, she hadn’t been eavesdropping that hard core. She didn’t like the idea of multiple types of breeding, but Lexus was such an AI person it was unbelievable. She found it too much risk for anything else- but she was just cautious like that. When you have a stallion or mare worth more then your barn you want the lowest chance on something going wrong. But Lexus was picky like that, it’d been the way she was raised by her coaches.

Silvia watched as the horses went out to pasture, Dream trying to do his thing. She watched the owner of the mare. A noob of course, and the mare too. Hopefully the AI didn't take. The mare seemed worthless. Oh well though. Not her choice. Silvia walked over to Lexus. "Sorry about running off earlyer. As you can see, I was kind of busy." Silvia looked back at the horses, laughing. Te mares owner and the mare had no idea what was going on. How clueless! Silvia walked over to the owner. "I don't think she's ready. How old did you say she was? Two, that's way to young! I'll get her out now!" Silvia go the mare and watched the woman leave. Wow, nice try lady. That sucked. Oh well, at least Dream knew what to do.

“People amaze me” said Lexus as the girl grabbed the mare out of the pasture, it was obvious the mares owners were extremely clueless as to the whole breeding thing. And the stallion must be new, or maybe it was different outside the hunter world? Lexus wasn’t sure but she knew that every mare that even wanted to come near one of her stallions had to meet certain standards, such as show experience, age, parents etc. She was extremely picky, and the ones that were brood mares due to injury was based on how their parents did and she usually did a conformation check on the mare. Kind of picky yes, but she didn’t own a stallion to make a huge amount in breeding. She owned a stallion because she loved to compete the horse. Lexus just looked towards the barn, Ollie looking at her waiting. Apparently he thought he deserved some treats and some more attention.

"They amaze me too." Silvia said. She got Dream out of the pasture and waited to see if Lexus was coming. Dream was a good boy, knew to this but good at it. Silvia rubbed his neck. She had another appointment tomorrow, but that mare was 6 with a fall and spring win over in Manitoba. And a proven producer. That woman had reqquested Dream and inhand then AI. Silvia wished she'd gone with Ai first, but the mare didn't like it. Oh well, every horse, like human were different. Silvia smiled a Lexus before heading to the barn. She gave Dream some food and water and locked him up. He whinnied, again locked away from the mares! He hated that.

Lexus led Ollie back out figuring she’d toss him out for a quick run, she had to go help Nate with some kind of paperwork in an hour or so, so she wouldn’t have time to ride the beast. He walked by the mares not even batting an eye, the only way Lexus would have it. She never did stallions that all they thought about was sex, just like she never, well rarely, did boys like that. Though she’d beat a colt into knowing that if she had to, okay not beat but she worked hard with them and didn’t let them get away with it. Someday somebody was going to think she abused her horses because of how she talked and thought. But it wasn’t how she actually did it, it was just how they said it back home. It was her barns thing, because everyone knew each other well enough to understand it was a joke. Bad habit though, one that may not work well if she ever said it out loud to the wrong person. Once the stallion was in the arena she waved her arms, Ollie just looked at her for a second before cantering off and running around, and of course he was jumping the fences that were out there. Everything from x’s to probably three feet, she was glad their wasn’t anything higher. He had a tendency to act stupid when in an arena let loose.

Dreams whinnied one more time. Siliva walked over to see Lexus. She rubbed the new horse and watched as Lexus let him into the arena. She sure was busy, too busy to exercise her own horse. "Hey" said Silvia "I can exersise him if you want." SHe looked around. She'd never ridden any horses she hadn't owned before, but he was beautiful and something about him made her want to try. Maybe, just maybe she'd get a foal out of him. It was an idea! She could train the foal too! That would be awesome! Silvia finaly noticed that she was day dreaming when she heard Dream call out again. Why was he so bad about that? This stud sure wasn't but... "Is he a standing stud?" Maube that would be why.

“I’d let you, but I always ride twice a day so he’s only missing a bit of flat work. Plus nobody ever rides my horses when I’m not here and rarely when I am here. When I first get them it’s not such a big, but he’s worth too much to just toss everyone up there. I’m sure you can ride amazingly, but I’m kind of paranoid like that. I ride him and my coaches ride him, that’s all he’s ever had on his back.” said Lexus, feeling kind of bad saying no to the girl but all of her reasons where complete truth. And she didn’t need a catch ride, she had her own horse. Unless she couldn’t ride him, which she couldn’t see why not. “If you want something to ride, I’ll find something for you. You can ride it once a day and I’ll work with it once a day, then I’ll sell it.” said Lexus, trying to be helpful. She had no problem picking up a slightly lower level horse, though she had been sure to make sure that it was her horse and she was just letting you ride it ever since one girl had took her to court demanding half the price of what was a fifty thousand dollar horse. She’d failed miserably, but still it was a waste of her time. “I only do AI, for a ton of reasons other then on my own horses. I bred him to my one mare once, but she lost it. She had a past of doing it though, so no surprise there. And I haven’t really put him out there, I don’t really push the breeding thing. It’s kind of a you want him, you find him thing.” said Lexus, turning her head to the stallion who was bucking and farting around now. Lexus watched as the gelding bucked then kind of slid down, loosing his balance. Lexus laughed until he got up and came limping back to her. Shit she thought to herself, this horse never quit working or fooling around for something stupid. Time to make sure nothing major was wrong. Vet call, here we come. Lexus grabbed her phone and called Michel , hoping he’d answer even though it wasn’t his work number.

"Okay, that's fine. I just didn't want him to get stuck without exersise. Plus I love a challenge!" Dream whinnied out, but not to Silvia. A mare was walking by his stall, and she was in heat! All the better for him. That mare this morning hadn't wanted to cooperate. Too much of a baby, literaly! "That's fine. I'm hoping to enter Dream in a show soon, get some money for a trail horse." What? Did she think Dream couldn't be ridden and I was just looking for a free ride? Hmmmm... People these day, god! "Oh, see, if I had raised Dream from a foal, I'd only do AI, but I didn't and he seems to love the other ways. So I let him do waht he wants, but once we're in the show ring he settles down and concentrates only on the show." Silvia got in the pen and started to rub the geldings neck.
Michel pulled up in his truck. He started moving towards tha barn. He heard people talking in the arena and walked over. Sure enough, Lexus was there with a new girl and a limping horse favouring one leg. Michel walked in and look at Lexus. "What happend?" It couldn't be minor, not if she'd called him. She was so sure when he'd talked to her. He walked over to the hurt legs and rubbed it down, noticing a bit of swelling and more pain when he puched there. Probably a bruise, but they'd need a second check. "I think it's just bruised, but I'll have to come back tomorrow to see when the swellings down. Keep the ankle iced where it's swollen and call me if it gets worse. I'll be back tomorrow." Michel got up. "But first I need the story."

Lexus saw Michel out of the corner of her eye, thank god she thought to herself. This girl was driving her slightly insane, she seemed to act like she new everything but it didn’t seem to come out that well when she spoke. “He fell, but I can just tell something’s a bit off. He’s never been a wimp, I have to get him check ups with vets and chiropractors every few months just to make sure he’s in good health, because it’s rare for him to show signs for anything” said Lexus, her voice fairly calm but you could sense how unsure she was of the whole situation. It just wasn’t like him, at all. If Cass came up lame, she didn’t call the vet immediately. But Cass was more reasonable, same with Cash. But Ollie, he’d never really understood the whole tell me when your in pain thing- he enjoyed working, way too much. Lexus listened to everything he said, but had a feeling it was more then just a bruise. But who knew, as long as nothing was broken she was okay. “Let him out, I was supposed to go do some paperwork for my brother so I wasn’t going to have time to ride him this morning, but I knew he’d want to come out and play. He was bucking and farting around, free jumping by himself. He always does this kind of stuff, he’s a bit of a goofball without a rider out here. But then he bucked and threw himself off balance and slid down onto the ground. Got up, and walked toward me lame. Called you then, he never walks to me until he’s drenched when I put him out here” said Lexus, attempting to give as much information about the stallion. She felt like a retard calling for a lameness, but it was Ollie. He was never sensitive and well, worth more then some farms. So much for paperwork, thought Lexus. She’d only leave to grab coffee, that would be it. She’d be here until probably nine, sitting with the stallion. It was rare for Ollie to be hurt, so she’d make sure nobody did anything stupid here. She was starting to doubt the horse world more and more. [/blockquote]
